The Union of European Football Associations, almost always called UEFA (you-way-fa), is one of the six continental football federations that are part of
FIFA. It acts as the governing body for all countries in the European region, but there are several football federations that geographically are located in Asia but are part of the UEFA. These nations are Armenia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Israel, Cyprus, Russia and Azerbaijan.
UEFA is the Top Football Confederation
Of the six continental football federations in the world, UEFA is the wealthiest and has the strongest influence on football. With 52 member nations, and some of the most competitive football tournaments like the UEFA EURO - held every 4 years, and the UEFA Cup and
UEFA Champions League, this confederation has the nations and clubs that the world tries to emulate (and beat). The world's top players play for European power houses that belong to the UEFA. Michael Platini is the current President of UEFA and sets the vision and scope as the confederation prepares for EURO 2012 in Poland and the Ukraine.
