ARSENAL: The first edition of The Sun has arrived at 2230 and it claims that Arsenal have accepted a deal of £5m plus William Gallas for Ashley Cole from Chelsea.
This is stupid. Losing Gallas to Arsenal and paying them for the pleasure of it is the dumbest thing ever. If it happens I hope Gallas buggers off to Italy or Spain or wherever it was he wanted to go in the first place in a years time.
Gallas > Cashley any day of the week.
Chris, your equation is right but not with a half-hearted Gallas. if his mind is not at chelsea you can NEVER get the best out of him and he would DIVIDE our team spirit, which is our backbone and that is very important. ( remember the media would like to exploit that avenue also to create tension in the team with unfounded stories)
His heart is probably not in Arsenal also, so don’t expect too much from him until he moves to AC Milan. I believe Gallas would still have played as a left or right full back and we are better reinforced this time around with quality players in those positions.
Even if he was FORCED to stay, he would stay just for a year till his contract expires and goes on a FREE. its time Chelsea starts making sensible deals. Cole for my money is an exceptional player. Imagine Ashley and Joe on the left wings (2 exceptional quality), its just the delivery for Sheva, Drog’ and Lamps to be scoring wild. (this is my vision anyway, i hope it materialises)
As for the price, i think it is a WONDERFUL deal. Correct me if i am wrong, Gallas was signed for 6 years at 6.2m pounds in May 18 2001 and has just one year left on the contract. Considering that Ashley is worth (minimum 25m ) and we paid 5m, it implies we sold Gallas for minimum 20m. I think its a magnificent deal for us.
What happened to the beast? As a contributor who always saw beauty in the so-called beast of last season’s Chelsea, I’m enjoying the beauty in the new so-called beautiful Chelsea. But I don’t think we’ve seen the last of our beastly nature, not if we...

Time to put Old Sepp down? They say that every dog has its day and frankly, Sepp Blatter has had his and is long overdue a final trip to the boneyard. Football’s maddest dog and one of the few men capable of making George Dubya...
You stupid Stephen Hunt At first I thought Jose Mourinho was overreacting, and of course I knew immediately that his line about Petr Cech being “lucky” was the one the press would zero in on. Whether Mourinho knew, at the time of the interview,...
Letter from America: Chelsea’s star in the ascendant I’m a regular reader of the Chelsea Blog - I wait patiently after every game to get the blog team’s views. I live in Portland, Oregon, and though a long time fan, sadly confess to having seen the Blues in...
