The festive season fixture list madness continues with two more matches in three days, the first against struggling rival Blues Birmingham City. Our excellent form over the traditionally busy Christmas and New Year period continued on Wednesday evening when we defeated a resolute Manchester City 1-0, making it six points out of six after victory over [...]
Dynamo Moscow’s Portugal international midfielder Maniche, who played under Jose Mourinho at Benfica and Porto, is close to signing for Chelsea. The 28-year-old could join on loan until the end of the season, when Chelsea will have a £5m option to buy. Dynamo sports director Boris Ignatiev said: “Talks with Chelsea are continuing but we’re in the [...]
Our busy festive schedule got off to a good, if somewhat unexpected but exciting start at the Bridge on Boxing Day. Near neighbours Fulham came from 2-0 down (an ultra-rare mistake by Petr Cech and a striker’s tackle by Joe Cole cost us) before the genius of Hernan Crespo rescued all three points — which [...]
A local derby for Boxing Day this year, the first match of four in eight days. Last season we took a big step towards our first title in fifty years by winning all our Christmas and New Year fixtures; in previous seasons we struggled to pick up points over the busy festive period. Jose Mourinho is [...]
Just a quick post to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, and to thank you all for your contributions and continued patronage during what has been a memorable year for Chelsea Football Club. It’s been quite a year for the CFCB too: a new design; a new columnist; and approx. 700,000 page views. I would particularly like [...]

Whether it’s the rivalry of playing some of your nearest neighbours at the highest level, knocking them out of a competition and generally abusing them for their mistaken choice of team, or whether it’s just for the local bragging rights and the consequent crowing and gloating [...]
The media may be reporting that dark and sinister forces are trying to ban the traditions that underpin Christmas, but it’s good to see that the sports journalists are having none of it. Yesterday they reported gleefully that a Ruud ‘n’ Roo powered Manchester Utd. were breathing down our necks; yes, the title race [...]
This is likely to be our last ever visit to Highbury before the Gunners up sticks to nearby Ashburton Grove, aka the Emirates Stadium. What better time to break the Highbury hoodoo (we’ve never won a Premiership match on Arsenal’s turf). The Gunners poor away form (played eight, won one, drawn two and lost five) has [...]
It was as predictable as time — Chelsea FC will play FC Barcelona in the first knock-out stage of this season’s Champions League. Chelsea will play at home first. The home tie will be played on Wednesday 22nd February, and the return at Camp Nou on Tuesday 7th March. Champions League draw in full: Chelsea v Barcelona Real Madrid [...]
Former striker Adrian Mutu has lost his appeal to the Court of Arbritation for Sport over his sacking following a positive drugs test. The decision allows Chelsea to pursue a compensation claim against Mutu, thought to be in the region of £8m.
