Petition to UEFA
Kenn, one of the Chelsea FC Blog’s columnists, has organised an online petition to UEFA that we, Chelsea Football Club fans, should all sign. You can read and sign the petition here: A Petition to UEFA by Fans and Well-wishers of Chelsea Football Club.

Done.
A well constructed and written – as usual – petition it is too, Kenn. Hopefully you’ll receive a little publicity, if nothing else.
All efforts to show UEFA up for the inept, corrupt(?) and hypocritical organisation that they are must be attempted, and this is as good a way as any.
Nice one, Kenn.
If anyone is going to sign this petition please read every word of it.
I did and I have decided not to sign it. I didn’t like the wording or the message.
Care to expand on why you didn’t sign the petition or like the wording or the message, Celery 1905?
Celery 1905 – If you’re the same Celery 1905 that contributes to the CFC Net forums, then why have you written ‘Done’ there but stated you haven’t signed it here?
Ahh, petitiononline.com, home of such inspirational petitions such as Give GODZILLA Respect and I hate Hilary Duff
It’s a good effort, but I wouldn’t hold my breath waiting for a response from UEFA..
These are some of the comments from CFCnet as to why it’s not been signed. Personally I agree with them.
Yes It’s well written but something a lot simpler would have probably been a wiser move, and also something I would have signed.
Cheers,
Toby Brown
Quotes from http://www.cfcnet.co.uk
“Sorry, I don’t agree with this at all and think it’s an exercise in futility for the following reasons;
1. The CFC lawyers are dealing with it and it could well undermine what they are doing. Leave it to the professionals. (The way UEFA are thinking at the moment, they’ll probably believe JM put you up to it)
2. The tone of the letter attacks UEFA. Is that a wise move? Do you not think it might just get their backs up? It is also investigatory and the hearing on Thursday is to do that very thing…INVESTIGATE the facts, who said what, saw what etc. Again…best left to the lawyers.
—————————————————-
I agree that this is not only an exercise futility, it might actually be counterproductive—————————————————-
“I really can’t see what good this can acheive I’m afraid. Whilst I sympathise with the sentiment to a degree, the only thing that this could do would be to further drive a wedge between us and UEFA.
Let’s be honest- this petition is not going to influence their decision one iota. It can, however, further sully the mood of UEFA towards the club.
Sorry, but I won’t be signing.â€?—————————————————-
“I’ve signed it, though I think it’s going to prove largely ineffective.
Many of the comments left on there are pretty stupid too, so it takes the seriousness away from it in my view.—————————————————-
How about focussing on the positives of Kenn’s effort? If we all took the view that a show of unity and free speech wasn’t worth it because “it’s going to prove largely ineffectiveâ€? etc., we’d all be living in a far worse world.
400 (minus the few ubiquitous idiots that the ‘Net breeds) CFC fans have signed Kenn’s petition. If you agree with it, sign it; if you don’t, don’t. It’s as simple as that.
Pessimism leads to weakness, optimism to power.
The version I’ve seen has question marks instead of apostrophes, and ‘collision’ instead of ‘collusion’ at the start. And it’s a bit of a rant. Can’t see it having any effect whatever, to be honest.
Jim,
I think Ed has said all there is to say on this matter; but let me just quickly acknowledge the mistake you noted with my use of ‘collision’, instead of collusion. In fact, Nick was the first person to spot it yesterday, but that is after it’s been posted; so, I really couldn’t correct it, since you cannot correct something that is already being signed. I think most people would know it’s a minor mistake and forgive me for it.
Of course, you’re entitled to call it a rant or to think it’s useless. That’s your opinion. Thankfully, there are people who obviously disagree with you.
CHEERS!
It’s such a childish rant I really wouldn’t send it if I were you. Please don’t. It really is counter-productive.
I know it’s well-intentioned and credit to you for that, but it’s embarassing. Read it out loud to yourself. Do you see?
